Mantel clock in Louis XVI or Neoclassical style in gilt bronze, on both sides white bisque figures representing Cupid and Love after the 18th Century Sèvres porcelain models of the French sculptor Boizot. On the left side Cupid is teaching to Love and on the right side Cupid is taught by Love. "La Lesson de l'Amour" and "La Lesson à L'Amour". The clockwork set in a octagonal case crowned with doves symbolising Love and on four double rams feet. Fine quality of the bronzes and in good original condition. Signed on the dial: 'E. Duval' and 'Suresne & Argenteuil' both villages now in the greater suburbs of Paris. The French clockmaker Duval was active, circa 1840-1850. The base adorned with a frieze of dancing putti and bronze ornaments on a black lacquered tole background. This clock was made after a rare period Louis XVI 18th century model.  Dimensions: H37 W42.5 D15 cm.

Outspoken Art Deco design in this Marble mantelclock signed by George Lavrof , a Russian sculptor known for his animal sculptures. It shows a reclining Amazone pointing her arrow. Note how the sculptor signed this work on the back of her folded left hand foot.

In original condition: the clockwork needs to be cleaned. The minute- hand and the tip of the arrow are missing.
