1450 €

Monumental thick layered abstract painting titled 'The after'. Signed Louis De Maeyer 9 september 1937. Thick layered dots of oil paint on canvas which gives a very special brutal atmosphere. In the back of the painting you can see the appearance of a person. Louis De Maeyer was a Belgian artist born in Berchem near Antwerp in 1903 and died in 1981 in Terneuzen, the Netherlands. He was a painter who trained at the Academy and the Higher Institute in Antwerp under the direction of Is. Opsomer (1920 - 1926). Soon, light and matter will be the great poles around which his art will evolve.
